FuelForm Drive Privacy Policy
Last updated: [publication date]
FuelForm Drive ("the app", "we") is made by FuelForm. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your drives and location are yours. Other people only see what you choose to share, and never inside your privacy zones.
- Nobody sees your speed. Not your crew, not your friends, not other drivers.
- We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time.
- FuelForm Drive is for people 16 and older.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Account: name, username, email address, password (stored only as a one-way hash), birth year | To run your account, confirm your email, reset your password, and confirm you're 16+. We check your full date of birth when you sign up but keep only the year. | You. Your name and username are visible to people you share a crew or friendship with. |
| Location while recording a drive (including in the background, when you turn on automatic or hybrid tracking) | To record your drives, routes and stats. | You. Crew members and friends see your drive history only if you turn on history sharing; even then, routes are cut inside your privacy zones and the first and last stretch of each drive is hidden by default, and speeds are removed. |
| Live location while you share it | To show you on your crew's and friends' map. | Only people who share a crew with you or are your friends, at the level you choose. Hidden in Ghost Mode (on by default) and inside your privacy zones. Speed is never included. |
| Anonymous traffic speeds (on by default; turn off under Privacy โ Help improve traffic) | To show traffic on the map. | No one individually. We store only the number of drivers and their average speed per road section and 5-minute window, and only use a section after several different drivers pass it. We never store who you are with it, and never use data inside your privacy zones. |
| Navigation: destinations you search for and routes you request | To find places and plan routes. | Search text is sent to our search provider (Geoapify) through our server, without your account details. Recent destinations are stored only on your phone. |
| Your cars: make, model, year, colour, optional photo | Your garage and how you appear on the map. | You and the people you share with. |
| Crews and meets: crews you join or create, roles, race numbers, meets and RSVPs | Running crews and meets. | Crew pages are public (name, crest, area, description, member count and upcoming public events); member lists and crew-only meets are visible to crew members. |
| Privacy zones | To hide your routes and live position near places like home and work. | Only you. |
| Notifications and push: in-app notifications and your device's push token | To notify you about friend requests, drives and meets. | Only you. You choose which kinds are pushed. |
| Crash reports and diagnostics | To find and fix bugs. | Our team, through our error-tracking provider (Sentry), with personal data removed where possible. |
| Replay videos | Created on your phone. | Never uploaded by us; they stay on your device unless you share them yourself. |
We don't collect contacts, photos (other than ones you choose to upload), microphone audio, or advertising identifiers.
Who we share data with
We use these service providers to run the app. They process data for us under their own terms and only for the services listed:
- DigitalOcean (hosting and database, United States)
- Geoapify (place search; receives search text and an approximate location, not your account)
- TomTom (live traffic map tiles; your phone loads these directly from TomTom, so TomTom receives your device's network address and the map area you're viewing)
- Resend (sign-up and password-reset emails)
- Apple and Google sign-in (if you choose Continue with Apple or Google, they confirm who you are and share your name and email, or Apple's private relay address, with us)
- Apple and Google (push notifications)
- Sentry (crash reports)
- OpenStreetMap data is used for maps, routing, cameras and road features; no personal data is sent to OpenStreetMap.
- Government road-event feeds (Caltrans, 511 SF Bay, 511 Ontario, US DOT WZDx) provide closures; no personal data is sent to them.
We share data with law enforcement only when legally required, and we push back on overly broad requests. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising as defined by California law.
How long we keep it
- Account, drives, cars, crews and meets: until you delete them or your account.
- Live positions: in memory only, gone two minutes after your last update.
- Anonymous traffic aggregates: up to 28 days.
- Sign-in sessions: until they expire or you sign out; expired ones are purged hourly.
- Email codes: 15 minutes.
- Backups: deleted data leaves our backups within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- In the app: Ghost Mode, history sharing, privacy zones, hide start and end, Help improve traffic, per-friend sharing levels, and push preferences.
- Delete your account: Profile โ Account โ Delete account, or follow the steps at https://api.drive.fuelformofficial.com/delete-account if you no longer have the app. This removes your profile, drives, cars, friends, crew memberships and notifications. If you own a crew, ownership passes to another member; a crew with no members left is deleted. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke our access to your Apple ID.
- Access, correction and export: most of your data is visible and editable in the app. Email us for a copy of everything we hold.
- California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing (we don't sell or share), and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights.
- Canadian residents may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
FuelForm Drive is for people 16 and older. We refuse sign-ups from anyone younger and store nothing about them. If you believe someone under 16 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Safety
Don't use the app in a way that distracts you from driving. Navigation is designed for glanceable use and voice guidance; set your route before you drive.
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), sessions can be revoked from every device at once, and access to data is checked on our servers. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Changes and contact
We'll notify you in the app before material changes take effect.
